Behaviour Mentoring
What does a Behaviour Mentor do?
Someone who works with children, young people and adults struggling with social and emotional problems that can manifest in difficulties controlling their behaviour. A behaviour mentor works with children, young people and adults to develop better behaviour norms. Below are some of the work behaviour mentors do;
-
Assisting with identifying children, young people and adults in need of support
-
Conducting one-to-one mentoring sessions with identified children, young people and adults
-
Develop strategies for children, young people and adults to manage their behaviour better
-
Drawing up action plans for children, young people and adults
-
Liaising with multidisciplinary teams such as care and support providers, SENCos
-
Keeping track of children, young people and adults' progress and monitoring behaviour
-
Organising lunchtime activities for children, young people and adults who display challenging behaviour during breaks
-
Supporting liaisons with families

Above all, a Behaviour Mentor must serve as a role model for the children, young people and adults they work with, exhibiting impeccable conduct that pupils will feel motivated to live up to.
